Kathy Weaver

Quilt of the Month is here, and we are sharing an out-of-this-world piece from artist Kathy Weaver. This quilt came to the International Quilt Museum in 2019 as part of our Quilt National Collection.

Weaver's quilt features a painted portrait of a silver, blue, gray and gold robot with gold beads are attached to its surface. A red flange separates the border and the portrait. And a closer look reveals planets painted on the border's surface.

The IQM's Quilt National Collection is a selection of award-winning quilts we acquire from Quilt National — an annual, juried exhibition held at the Dairy Barn Arts Center in Athens, Ohio. Quilt National has been in action for over 40 years, and the IQM (with help from the generous Robert and Ardis James Foundation) has collected as many pieces as possible since the exhibition's inception in 1979.
