Don't be a chicken! Flock to the workshop! We will be viewing the quilts in the exhibition, Whimsy II: Quilts of a Feather. How fun to learn all about chickens and other fowl through the eyes of American Girl dolls Kit and Ruthie from the 1930s. In the story, Kit raised chickens and sold eggs to help support her family during the depression. She was also a bird watcher, watching birds from her treehouse.
Fun snacks will be chicken/bird related: gummy worms, chicken feed (popcorn) and Peeps. The children will stitch one or a flock of bean bag chickens and construct a feather/cloth collage of a bird from the exhibition. What fun to have a quilt made of feathers in the exhibition and a whole flock of bird quilts! All are encouraged to bring their favorite doll.
