In March this year, an exciting new collection was presented to the International Quilt Museum by the Studio Art Quilt Associates, Inc. The 8" x 8" pieces were created to celebrate the organization's 20th anniversary. More than 180 SAQA members contributed small quilts that represent their artistic voices and act as a record of the art quilt in 2009. Fifty-six pieces were selected to become a part of the Center's collection. SAQA is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the art quilt through education, exhibitions, professional development and documentation.

Porcella's quilt represents 20 years of creative work by the artist:

"I selected fabrics and techniques representative of early work utilizing strips set on point, hand applique and hand quilting—Colorful fabrics, stories, icons, trivia are part of my art."
