Blue Bowl
Blue Bowl
Dorothy Caldwell explores landmarks and spaces — both geological and personal — in daring, angular quilts. Her work pulls from early surveyors of Canada who recorded spaces mathematically, but all the while noted unique aspects of the land to which they were personally drawn.
This month’s quilt is Caldwell’s “Blue Bowl” from 2005 — a gift to IQM from the artist in 2011. The piece was featured in a 2012 exhibition that honored the late Ardis James.
